Past Present Future

Poster Design

2026: three posters connecting the thoughts of what Gen-Z thinks of the past, present, and future.

I wanted to make a poster series on the ideation of Gen-Z past and future with the present being a gateway to both. Gen-Z wants to hold onto their past as much they can (seen with the hand reaching out). Often bringing up elements from the past into the present by incorporating their designs and themes from the time when they were young. For the past poster I chose Frutiger Aero, which is an official design theme of the late 2000’s to early 2010’s. This is a middle ground and familiar futuristic company vibe that was used heavily in that time frame to promote tech companies. Microsoft had it as a design language for Windows Vista and Windows 7. Apple had it as a design language in Mac OS 10.5-10.7. For the future, we see cutting edge minimalism with sharp and simplified shapes. This is often called cyberpunk. I used this design language for the future poster. It’s what Gen-Z is gravitating towards when they get “cybersigilism tattoos” or design futuristic posters. I unified all three posters with using the same bubbly experimental type.
